Ask someone who vacations along the Brunswick County coast when the best time of year is, and chances are they’ll say summer.

Ask someone who actually lives here, and you may get a very different answer.

September is one of those months that reminds you there’s a big difference between visiting the North Carolina coast and calling it home. The beach days aren’t over. The boats aren’t necessarily coming out of the water. And weekends don’t suddenly stop because Labor Day has passed. Instead, the pace begins to change.

For residents of Shallotte and the surrounding Brunswick Islands, September brings many of the things people love about summer—warm days, evenings near the water and easy trips to the beach—but with the beginning of a quieter season along the coast. At The Tides of Shallotte, it’s one of our favorite times of year.

Summer Doesn't End on Labor Day Here

One of the biggest adjustments for people moving to coastal North Carolina is realizing just how long the outdoor season lasts. September in Brunswick County doesn't feel like the beginning of fall in many other parts of the country. There is still plenty of time for an afternoon at Ocean Isle Beach, an evening walk near the water or a weekend spent exploring the coast. The difference is that the rhythm begins to slow down. Summer vacation schedules start winding down. Schools are back in session. The busiest tourism weeks are behind us. For someone who lives here year-round, that's when the coast starts to feel a little more like your own backyard. And from Shallotte, you don't have to choose just one beach town.

Three Beaches, One Home Base

Location is one of the things that can be difficult to appreciate until you actually live in Shallotte. Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach and Sunset Beach are all within easy reach, yet each offers something a little different. Ocean Isle Beach is an easy choice when you want a traditional beach afternoon followed by dinner or drinks nearby. Holden Beach offers a more relaxed residential feel and miles of shoreline to explore. Head south instead and Sunset Beach gives you another completely different stretch of the Brunswick Islands. That means a Saturday doesn't require much planning. Check the weather, grab a beach chair and decide which direction you're going. That everyday access to the coast is something we've talked about before on our blog, because it's one of the biggest differences between vacationing here and actually living here.

The Tides gives residents a central home base in Shallotte rather than tying them to the traffic and seasonal activity of one individual beach town. Our previous posts have highlighted the community's proximity to Ocean Isle, Holden and Sunset Beach as part of that year-round lifestyle.

September Is When Shallotte Starts Feeling More Local Again

Beach access is a major part of living here, but it's not the entire story. One of the reasons Shallotte works so well as a year-round home is that it's a real town rather than solely a vacation destination. You can spend the morning near the ocean and still come home to the conveniences you use every day—shopping, healthcare, restaurants, grocery stores and local businesses are all right here. September is especially nice because you start to notice the transition back toward the local pace of life. Coffee in town. Dinner without building the entire evening around peak-season crowds. A quick drive toward the beach because the sunset looks good. An afternoon on the Shallotte Riverwalk. Those aren't vacation itineraries when you live here. They're things you can decide to do because you have a free hour. That's a distinction we've heard from people considering a move to Brunswick County: many initially start their search because they want to be near the beach, but what ultimately makes Shallotte appealing is being close to the coast without giving up everyday convenience. It's also why renting first has become an attractive option for people who want time to learn the different communities before deciding exactly where they want to settle long-term.

Life at The Tides Changes With the Season, Too

September also brings a change of pace inside our community. Summer at The Tides is active. Between the resort-style pool, resident events and our Summer Concert Series, there has been plenty happening around the property. As we move into September, we're shifting some of that energy into new ways for neighbors to spend time together. We're kicking off our Tides in Motion walking club this month and continuing to build out resident wellness programming with activities including yoga and Zumba. That's intentional. Resident events at The Tides aren't meant to be occasional extras that look good on a calendar. We want them to reflect the way people actually live here and give residents opportunities to meet each other without everything feeling overly organized or forced. Sometimes that's a summer concert. Sometimes it's yoga. Sometimes it's simply meeting a few neighbors for a walk. And when you don't feel like participating in anything at all, that's perfectly fine too.

Resort-Style Amenities Without Waiting for Vacation

Of course, one of the perks of September is that staying home isn't exactly a bad option either. The Tides was designed around a coastal, resort-style experience, with amenities that residents can use as part of their normal routine—not something reserved for a week away. There’s the saltwater resort-style pool and sundeck, fitness and recovery spaces, putting green, pickleball, clubhouse and resident lounge, along with a pool house overlooking the surrounding marsh. On a warm September afternoon, that might mean spending a couple of hours by the pool instead of driving to the beach. After work, it might mean getting in a workout before heading home. On a quiet evening, it can be as simple as stepping outside and watching the light change over the marsh. That's the part of coastal living that's difficult to capture in a list of amenities. It's less about having access to a pool or putting green and more about what your ordinary Tuesday can look like.

Thinking About Moving to Brunswick County? September Is a Great Time to Explore

If you're considering relocating to Shallotte, Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach or elsewhere in Brunswick County, September is also an excellent time to visit with something other than vacation in mind. Instead of only looking at houses or apartments, spend a few days living normally. Drive through Shallotte in the morning. Visit Ocean Isle one afternoon and Holden Beach the next. Find a grocery store. Try a local restaurant you've never visited. Drive the route you'd take to work. Spend an evening around the Shallotte River. Explore Sunset Beach. Those little experiences tell you far more about whether an area feels like home than a weekend spent looking exclusively at properties. It's one of the reasons we've seen people choose to rent at The Tides while deciding what comes next. Some are relocating permanently. Some are building or searching for a home. Others simply realize that maintenance-free apartment living near the coast gives them more time to enjoy the reason they moved here in the first place.

The Tides also offers a 2nd Home Program, which gives people another option when their housing needs don't fit neatly into the traditional long-term move. The program is featured alongside the community's traditional floor plans on The Tides website.

Fall on the Brunswick Islands Is Just Getting Started

September isn't the end of coastal season. In many ways, it's the beginning of the part locals wait for. The weeks ahead bring cooler evenings, local events and another fall along the Brunswick Islands. Even the annual North Carolina Oyster Festival is right around the corner, returning to Ocean Isle Beach October 17–18, 2026. That's one of the things we love most about living in Shallotte. There isn't really one “season” for enjoying the coast. Summer may get most of the attention, but September has its own appeal: warm days, a little more breathing room and the realization that when everyone else packs up from vacation, you don't have to leave. You already live here.

Find Your Place at The Tides of Shallotte

Whether you're relocating to Brunswick County, looking for an apartment near Ocean Isle Beach, considering renting before buying, or simply ready for a home that puts more of the coastal lifestyle within reach, we'd love to show you around. The Tides of Shallotte offers one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes in Shallotte, North Carolina, with resort-style amenities and convenient access to the Brunswick County coast. The community is located at 4568 Tides Way in Shallotte. Come see what September looks like when the coast isn't somewhere you have to visit. It's home.

If you've ever wondered why so many people are choosing to call Brunswick County home, August is the perfect month to find out. Summer is still in full swing, the beaches are at their warmest, and the coastal lifestyle settles into an easy rhythm that locals look forward to every year. As vacation traffic begins to taper toward the end of the month, residents enjoy even easier access to everything that makes this corner of North Carolina such a special place to live.
At The Tides of Shallotte, that lifestyle starts the moment you leave your front door. Whether you're spending the day on the beach, enjoying dinner at a local favorite, or simply relaxing by the marsh with neighbors, every day feels a little more like a getaway. Conveniently located just minutes from Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, and Sunset Beach, our luxury apartment community offers the perfect blend of modern living and coastal charm.

Beach Days Without the Vacation Planning

Living at The Tides means the beach doesn't have to be reserved for weekends or annual vacations. Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, and Sunset Beach are all just a short drive away, making it easy to enjoy an afternoon in the sand, an evening walk along the shoreline, or dinner overlooking the Atlantic.
August is one of the best times to take advantage of coastal living. The ocean is warm, sunsets are spectacular, and as families begin preparing for the new school year, many local beaches become a little quieter while still offering everything people love about summer.

Explore the New Shallotte Riverwalk

One of the newest additions to the area is the Shallotte Riverwalk, located just minutes from The Tides. This beautiful boardwalk stretches along the Shallotte River and features scenic marsh views, waterfront gazebos, fishing access, and opportunities to spot local wildlife including blue herons, bald eagles, egrets, and even the occasional alligator affectionately nicknamed "Shally" by locals.
It's places like this that remind you why so many people fall in love with Brunswick County.

Support Local While Living Local

One of the best parts of living in Shallotte is supporting the locally owned businesses that give the town its character.
Grab breakfast or lunch at Purple Onion Café, enjoy fresh seafood and American favorites at Wing & Fish Company, meet friends for dinner at Lucca Italian Chophouse, or enjoy waterfront dining at Inlet View Bar & Grill overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. And if you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth afterward, be sure to stop by the newly opened Lilly Bird's Creamery on Main Street. Their small-batch homemade ice cream has quickly become a favorite among locals and is the perfect way to end a summer evening.
With grocery stores, healthcare providers, shopping, and everyday conveniences all just minutes from home, living at The Tides means spending less time driving and more time enjoying the lifestyle that brought you here.

Resort-Style Living Without Leaving Home

Of course, one of the biggest perks of living at The Tides is that some of the best parts of summer happen without ever leaving the community.
Spend the afternoon lounging beside our resort-style saltwater pool overlooking the marsh, challenge friends to pickleball or a round on the putting green, unwind in our recovery room with massage chairs, or squeeze in a workout at our 24-hour fitness center. Residents also enjoy our clubhouse, coworking space, complimentary coffee bar, pet spa, bark park, and regular resident events throughout the year.
And because it's August, we've added a few extra touches that have quickly become resident favorites. Need to cool off after the pool? Help yourself to a complimentary frozen slushy from our resident slushy machine, or grab a free ice cream or popsicle from our poolside freezer. They're simple perks, but they perfectly capture what we love most about living here—creating a community where residents feel appreciated every day.

More Than an Apartment Community

One thing that truly sets The Tides apart is our commitment to creating opportunities for neighbors to connect.
This month, residents can enjoy a Back-to-School Breakfast, community yoga classes, our Summer Concert Series overlooking the marsh, and Movie Night by the Water. Whether you're attending your first event or your fiftieth, these gatherings help turn neighbors into friends while giving everyone another reason to enjoy the beautiful surroundings we call home.
It's not just about where you live—it's about the lifestyle you experience once you're here.

Why More People Are Choosing Shallotte

Shallotte continues to grow, but it has never lost the small-town atmosphere that makes it unique. You're close enough to enjoy Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Southport, and the Brunswick Islands, yet far enough away to appreciate a quieter pace of life. Whether you're relocating for work, retiring near the coast, or simply looking for more space and less stress, it's easy to understand why Brunswick County continues to attract new residents every year.
At The Tides of Shallotte, we believe home should be more than just a place to live. It should be a place where you can spend your mornings walking the Riverwalk, your afternoons by the pool, your evenings enjoying live music with neighbors, and your weekends exploring some of the most beautiful beaches in North Carolina.
If you're looking for luxury apartments in Shallotte, NC, we'd love to show you what makes life at The Tides different. Schedule a tour today and discover why so many residents are choosing to make The Tides of Shallotte their home.

If you've spent any time in Brunswick County lately, you've probably noticed something: people are moving here from everywhere. Whether it's retirees leaving colder climates, remote professionals looking for a slower pace, or families ready to trade city traffic for coastal living, Brunswick County continues to be one of North Carolina's fastest-growing areas.

What surprises many people, however, is that a large number of those future homeowners aren't buying immediately. Instead, they're choosing to rent first—and for good reason.

At The Tides of Shallotte, we've seen this trend firsthand. Many of our residents arrive planning to purchase a home eventually, but they want time to explore the area, learn the local communities, and make the right decision instead of a rushed one.

Brunswick County Isn't Just One Place

One of the biggest misconceptions people have before moving here is assuming every coastal town offers the same lifestyle. The reality is that each community has its own personality.

Ocean Isle Beach offers a relaxed beach-town atmosphere with local favorites like Sharky's Waterfront Restaurant and Pelicans Perch, while Sunset Beach is known for its quieter shoreline, Bird Island Reserve, and scenic sunsets. Shallotte serves as the everyday hub of Brunswick County, with shopping, healthcare, dining, and essential services all within minutes. Head south to Calabash and you'll find the seafood restaurants that made the town famous, while Southport offers historic charm and waterfront living with a completely different feel.

Many future homeowners realize they simply don't know which area fits them best until they've actually lived here. Renting gives you that opportunity.

New Construction Doesn't Always Move on Schedule

Another reason many residents choose to rent first is timing.

Brunswick County continues to see significant residential growth from builders like D.R. Horton, Logan Homes, Bill Clark Homes, and Dream Finders Homes. While these communities offer beautiful new homes, construction timelines can change because of weather, inspections, permitting, or material availability. Rather than living in temporary housing or staying with family, many people choose to lease an apartment while waiting for their new home to be completed. It provides flexibility without the pressure of rushing into another purchase.

Explore Before You Invest

Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most people will ever make. Renting first allows you to spend weekends exploring the area instead of relying on online research. Maybe you'll discover that your favorite Saturday morning starts with coffee from Burney's Sweets & More before browsing the Shallotte Farmers Market. Or perhaps you'll find yourself spending evenings walking along the Shallotte Riverwalk before grabbing dinner at Wing & Fish Company or Lucca Italian Chophouse. You might realize you prefer spending every weekend at Ocean Isle Beach, or maybe you fall in love with the quieter atmosphere of Sunset Beach. Those are the kinds of discoveries that are difficult to make during a weekend house-hunting trip.

Interest Rates Continue to Influence Buyers

Many prospective homeowners are also choosing to wait while monitoring mortgage rates and housing inventory. Rather than feeling pressured to buy immediately, renting provides the flexibility to purchase when the timing makes the most financial sense for their family. During that time, they can continue saving for a larger down payment, compare neighborhoods, and become familiar with local lenders, insurance providers, and contractors.

Maintenance-Free Living Has Its Benefits

Many people moving to Brunswick County are leaving behind larger homes that required constant maintenance. Renting offers something many homeowners haven't experienced in years: weekends without yard work, exterior maintenance, or unexpected repair bills. Instead of mowing grass or scheduling contractors, residents can spend more time enjoying everything the area has to offer—from kayaking the Shallotte River and playing a round at Rivers Edge Golf Club to attending local concerts, exploring Ocean Isle Beach, or simply relaxing by the pool.

Sometimes Renting Ends Up Being the Right Choice

Interestingly, not everyone who plans to buy actually does. Some residents discover they enjoy the flexibility that apartment living provides. With resort-style amenities, elevators, fitness facilities, resident events, and maintenance-free living, many realize they have everything they need without the responsibilities that come with homeownership. For some, renting simply becomes the lifestyle they didn't know they were looking for.

A Place to Call Home While You Decide

Whether you're waiting on a new construction home, relocating from another state, planning for retirement, or simply taking time to find the right neighborhood, renting first can remove much of the stress from the process.

At The Tides of Shallotte, you're centrally located just minutes from Ocean Isle Beach, Sunset Beach, Calabash, and the conveniences of downtown Shallotte, making it easy to experience everything Brunswick County has to offer before making your long-term decision.

After all, finding the right home often starts with finding the right community—and sometimes the best way to do that is by giving yourself the time to truly experience it.

When most people first discover Shallotte, North Carolina, it is usually because they are visiting Ocean Isle Beach, exploring the Brunswick Islands, or considering a move closer to the coast. What many don't realize is that Shallotte has quietly become one of the most desirable places to live in southeastern North Carolina, not just because of its location, but because of the lifestyle it offers year round.
At The Tides of Shallotte, we often meet prospective residents who come looking for a place near the beach and leave realizing they have found something much more valuable: a community that offers the best parts of coastal living without sacrificing convenience, connection, or everyday comfort.

More Than a Beach Town

One of the biggest surprises for newcomers is that Shallotte is much more than a gateway to the beach.
Located along the Shallotte River in Brunswick County, Shallotte serves as the commercial and cultural hub for much of the surrounding coastal area. While Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, and Sunset Beach are all just minutes away, residents quickly discover that much of what they need is right here in town.
Within a short drive of The Tides, residents have access to:

  • Grocery stores including Publix, Aldi, Food Lion, and Lowes Foods
  • National retailers including Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, Belk, Marshalls, and Ulta
  • Novant Health medical offices and healthcare services
  • Local restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, and wineries
  • Golf courses, marinas, and outdoor recreation

The result is a lifestyle where errands don't require a long commute and beach days don't require planning weeks in advance.

The Beaches Are Close Enough to Enjoy Regularly

Many people moving to coastal North Carolina imagine spending every day at the beach. The reality is that life still includes work, errands, appointments, and responsibilities.
The advantage of living in Shallotte is that the beaches remain close enough to enjoy regularly without the challenges that often come with living directly on a barrier island.
From The Tides, residents can easily reach:

Ocean Isle Beach

Ocean Isle Beach remains one of Brunswick County's most popular destinations thanks to its wide beaches, family friendly atmosphere, waterfront restaurants, and boating opportunities.

Holden Beach

Known for its laid back atmosphere and natural beauty, Holden Beach is often a favorite among locals seeking a quieter beach experience.

Sunset Beach

Frequently recognized for its scenic shoreline and breathtaking sunsets, Sunset Beach offers a more relaxed pace and some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in the region.
Having multiple beaches within roughly fifteen minutes gives residents flexibility that many coastal communities simply cannot offer.

Life Revolves Around the Water

Living near the water is different when it becomes part of your everyday routine rather than a vacation activity.
The Shallotte River winds through town before connecting to the Intracoastal Waterway, creating endless opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing, paddleboarding, and waterfront exploration.
Many residents find themselves developing routines they never expected:

  • Morning walks along the Shallotte Riverwalk
  • Weekend boat rides through the Intracoastal Waterway
  • Sunset fishing trips
  • Kayaking through coastal marshes
  • Evening waterfront dining with friends and family

At The Tides, residents don't have to drive somewhere special to enjoy coastal scenery. The marsh views and waterfront surroundings are already part of daily life.

The Riverwalk Is One of Shallotte's Hidden Gems

While visitors often focus on the beaches, locals know the Shallotte Riverwalk is one of the area's best assets.
Located in downtown Shallotte, the Riverwalk offers:

  • Scenic views of the Shallotte River
  • Walking paths and observation areas
  • Community events and festivals
  • Public gathering spaces
  • Easy access to local businesses and restaurants

Throughout the year, the Riverwalk hosts events such as Market Days, seasonal celebrations, and community gatherings that help bring residents together.
For many people who move to the area, it becomes one of their favorite places to unwind after work or spend a Saturday morning.

Outdoor Recreation Is Everywhere

Another surprise for many new residents is just how much outdoor recreation exists beyond the beach.
Within minutes of The Tides, residents can enjoy:

Shallotte River Swamp Park

Offering zip lines, aerial adventure courses, eco tours, and river experiences, Shallotte River Swamp Park provides a completely different perspective of coastal North Carolina.

Local Golf Courses

Brunswick County has become a destination for golf enthusiasts, with highly regarded courses throughout the area including Rivers Edge, The Pearl, Oyster Bay, Leopard's Chase, and many others.

Boating and Marinas

The area's marinas provide easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway, nearby islands, fishing grounds, and open coastal waters.
For active residents, there is no shortage of ways to spend time outdoors.

A Growing Food and Beverage Scene

Many newcomers are pleasantly surprised by the variety of dining options available throughout Shallotte and Ocean Isle Beach.
Whether you're looking for casual waterfront dining, local seafood, coffee shops, wineries, breweries, or family owned restaurants, the area continues to expand its offerings each year.
Local favorites include:

  • Silver Coast Winery
  • Coastal Wine & Tap
  • Wing & Fish Company
  • Mermaid's Island Grill
  • The Hot Buffalo
  • Coffee Cottage
  • Castaway's Raw Bar & Grill

The growing restaurant scene has become one of the reasons many residents choose to stay local rather than traveling elsewhere for dining and entertainment.

Community Matters at The Tides

What truly separates life at The Tides from simply renting an apartment is the sense of community.
Throughout the year, residents enjoy a variety of events designed to bring neighbors together and create opportunities to connect.
This summer, residents are enjoying:

  • The Summer Concert Series overlooking the marsh
  • Resident socials
  • Game nights
  • Holiday events
  • Wellness programming
  • Seasonal gatherings

The goal is simple: create opportunities for residents to enjoy where they live and get to know the people around them.
For many residents, these events become one of their favorite parts of living at The Tides.

Why People Stay

When people first move to Shallotte, they often do so because of the beaches, the weather, or the location.
What keeps them here is everything else.
It is the convenience of having daily necessities nearby. It is the ability to spend time outdoors year round. It is the access to boating, golf, beaches, and local events. It is the friendships built through community involvement. And it is the feeling that life moves at a pace that allows you to actually enjoy it.
At The Tides of Shallotte, we see this every day.
People arrive expecting a place to live near the coast. What they discover is a lifestyle that combines waterfront beauty, small town charm, modern conveniences, and a strong sense of community.
And for many residents, that becomes the biggest surprise of all.

Beaches, Boating, and Local Favorites

Within 15 Minutes There’s something different about summer at The Tides of Shallotte. It’s not just the warmer weather, it’s how easily everyday life starts to feel like a coastal getaway. Located just minutes from some of Brunswick County’s best spots, The Tides puts you right in the middle of everything that makes this area special, without the crowds or long drives.

One of the biggest advantages is proximity to the beach. Within about 10 to 15 minutes, you can be on Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, or Sunset Beach, each offering a slightly different experience. Ocean Isle is a go to for convenience and activity, with easy access to kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and waterfront dining. Holden Beach offers a quieter, more laid back setting that’s perfect for bike rides, shelling, or a full day by the water. For those who prefer something a little more tucked away, Sunset Beach provides a slower pace and natural beauty that feels removed in the best way.

Beyond the shoreline, summer here is just as much about getting out on the water. The Intracoastal Waterway and surrounding marshes create endless opportunities for boating, fishing, and exploring. Nearby marinas and rental options make it easy to plan a day on the water, whether that’s a casual cruise, a sunset ride, or a fishing trip. It’s one of those lifestyle perks that quickly becomes part of your routine when you live here.

Closer to home, Shallotte continues to grow as a hub for local activity. The Shallotte Riverwalk is a favorite for an evening walk or a quick reset, offering scenic views of the marsh and river just minutes from the community. For something more active, Shallotte River Swamp Park offers ziplining, aerial courses, and eco tours that give you a different perspective of the coastal landscape.

Summer also brings more energy to the area, with local events, markets, and outdoor dining picking up throughout the season. At The Tides, that same energy carries into the community with our Summer Concert Series kicking off May 16 and running throughout the summer. Hosted by the pool overlooking the marsh, these events bring live music directly to residents and guests, creating a relaxed, social atmosphere without ever having to leave home. It’s quickly becoming one of the highlights of the season and a great way to enjoy the evenings with neighbors and friends.

Back at The Tides, everything ties together. Between the resort style pool, planned events, and thoughtfully designed spaces, it’s easy to enjoy the season whether you’re heading out for the day or staying in. Some days it’s the beach, other days it’s the water, and sometimes it’s simply relaxing and taking in the view. At the end of the day, summer at The Tides isn’t something you have to plan for, it’s built into your location and your lifestyle. Whether it’s a quick trip to the coast, a day on the water, or live music right outside your door, everything that defines coastal living is right here.

The weather is warm but still comfortable, the beaches are quiet before peak season, and the entire area begins to pick up that relaxed but energized coastal feel.

At The Tides, April is when residents really start to enjoy the full lifestyle. Mornings can start with coffee on your balcony overlooking the marsh or a quick breakfast run to Eggs Up Grill, just minutes from the community and known for its easy, everyday brunch options. From there, it is easy to spend time outdoors, whether that means relaxing by the pool, walking the property, or heading over to the Shallotte River area for a change of scenery. The longer days and warmer weather make it easier to enjoy everything right outside your door.

One of the biggest advantages of living here in April is how close you are to some of the best local spots before the summer crowds arrive. You can take a quick drive over to Inlet View Bar & Grill for waterfront dining and sunset views over the Shallotte River, or head toward Ocean Isle Beach and grab a coffee from 59 Causeway Coffee before walking the shoreline. Local favorites like Ocean Isle Fish Company offer that classic coastal dining experience right on the water, making it easy to turn any afternoon into something memorable.

April also gives you the advantage of timing. You are getting settled just before the busy summer season, which means easier access to beaches like Ocean Isle, Holden Beach, and Sunset Beach, along with more availability when it comes to choosing your apartment home. Whether you are looking for a specific floor plan or a marsh view, this is the ideal window before demand really ramps up.

At The Tides of Shallotte, moving in April is more than just finding a new apartment. It is stepping into a season where everything feels fresh, active, and full of opportunity. From quiet mornings to evenings by the water, it is the start of the lifestyle that makes living here so unique.

If you have been thinking about making a move, there is no better time to experience it for yourself.

Tucked along the scenic Shallotte River, The Tides of Shallotte is where luxury meets laid-back coastal living. Just minutes from the beach but away from the bustle of busier cities, The Tides offers the perfect blend of comfort, community, and coastal charm — a true hidden gem in Brunswick County. For many residents, The Tides represents more than just a home — it’s a lifestyle.

"We fell in love with the beauty of Coastal North Carolina and wanted to find a place near the beach but outside of the hustle bustle of a big city,” said residents Rhonda and Dan. “The Tides has the perfect laid-back feel and beautiful views that we were looking for.”

Resort-Style Living Every Day

From the moment you enter, The Tides feels like a resort getaway. Residents enjoy a saltwater pool and sundeck, a state-of-the-art fitness center, golf and putting green, pickleball courts, and a beautifully designed clubhouse — complete with a chef’s kitchen, coffee bar, and community lounges.

“The amenities are fantastic,” said Dan. “We love the gym, the pool, the golf putting green, and the beautiful clubhouse. It’s like living in a luxury resort.”

Effortless Move-In, Modern Design

Every apartment home at The Tides was built with convenience and modern living in mind. Spacious open floor plans, elevator access, and designer finishes make every day comfortable and functional. The community also offers furnished apartment homes with utilities included through its 2nd Home Program — ideal for short-term stays or residents in between homes.

“The move-in process was extremely easy,” said Rhonda. “We love having elevators for the bigger items. The layout of each building is also extremely open and accessible, making move-in day a breeze.” “We love the open floor plan of the apartments,” Dan added. “It’s bright, comfortable, and feels like home right away.”

Location, Location, Location

One of The Tides’ biggest draws is its unbeatable location — minutes from Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, and Sunset Beach, with everyday conveniences just around the corner.

"We can be at three different beaches with just a 15-minute drive,” said Dan. “We’re within 15 minutes of multiple golf courses and great restaurants — some even within walking distance. And all of our shopping needs are right nearby. We love that!” The community’s setting along the Shallotte River also brings a daily dose of natural beauty. “Our favorite spot is our back patio,” said Rhonda. “It overlooks the river and marshlands — we can spot herons, egrets, spoonbills, even hummingbirds. We love to sit out and enjoy the sunset from the comfort of our home.”

A Community That Feels Like Family

Residents describe The Tides as open, friendly, and full of that unmistakable Southern hospitality. “The community is very open, diverse, and friendly,” said Rhonda. “The Southern hospitality and charm really is a ‘thing!’” “We love meeting fellow residents as we go about our day — in the gym, grabbing coffee in the clubhouse, or just picking up the mail,” added Dan. “Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. We love it here.” The staff at The Tides play a big part in that sense of connection. “After we moved in, we discovered that the staff is very open to suggestions and resident needs,” said Rhonda. “They’re more like personal concierges than a normal apartment staff.”

Why It’s Still a Best-Kept Secret

With its resort-style amenities, coastal charm, modern apartments, and genuinely caring staff, The Tides of Shallotte offers the kind of elevated yet easygoing lifestyle that’s rare to find. “If you’re looking for beautiful views, great amenities, spacious, well laid-out, modern apartments with a fabulous staff — this is the place for you,” said Rhonda. “We would definitely recommend The Tides of Shallotte to a friend.”

Come Discover The Tides Whether you’re seeking your next full-time home, a furnished short-term stay, or a coastal retreat, The Tides of Shallotte is ready to welcome you.
